Angry Customer Reply Check

Give it the complaint, your draft reply and your policy. Get a check of promises, facts and tone, and a repaired draft. Free, MIT-licensed.

What you give it

The customer's message, your draft reply and your policy.

What you get

It lists what the customer raised and whether the draft answers it, tests every promise against your policy, checks the facts, flags blame, defensive phrases and empty apologies with your exact words, checks there is a next step, and returns a repaired draft. Open decisions are marked [DECIDE]. It never adds a refund or timeline you did not give it.

Before and after

Taken from the skill's README.

Before: Draft: "Unfortunately we regret any inconvenience. As per our policy, delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed, so you should have allowed more time. We will send you a full refund and a free replacement kettle within 24 hours."

After (skill output, from a real test run): Test run on a complaint and a draft we wrote, with a short policy. Verdict, unedited: "Hold and decide first. The draft promises a full refund and a free replacement, and the policy lets a support agent offer neither." It found the one thing the policy did allow, the 7.99 express refund, which the draft left out, quoted the blame phrases, and wrote a repaired reply with [DECIDE] markers for the refund timing and the team lead's approval.

It lists what the customer raised and whether the draft answers it, tests every promise against your policy, checks the facts, flags blame, defensive phrases and empty apologies with your exact words, checks there is a next step, and returns a repaired draft. How it was tested

1 run on a complaint, draft and policy we wrote (Claude Sonnet).

Tested on a real example before release. The example is shown in the Before and after section above.

How we test, what we do not do, and which assistants we ran it on.

Limits

  • It checks the draft against the policy you give it. With no policy it marks promises "not checked".
  • It does not decide refunds or know your approvals.
  • It does not give legal advice. If a customer mentions harm, legal action or a regulator, get advice.
  • It repairs wording. It will not make a bad outcome a good one.

Works with

Works with any assistant that reads SKILL.md skills (Claude, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor and others), plus a paste-in prompt version for ChatGPT or any chatbot.

Install

  1. Run npx skills add proskillpacks/skills in your project and pick this skill. Or copy the angry-customer-reply-check folder from GitHub (https://github.com/proskillpacks/skills/tree/main/skills/support/angry-customer-reply-check).
  2. Put the angry-customer-reply-check folder where your assistant looks for skills. The generic path is .agents/skills/ (or npx skills add from a folder). Tool-specific paths:
    • Claude Code: ~/.claude/skills/ (or .claude/skills/ inside one project)
    • OpenAI Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor and others: .agents/skills/ or the skills folder their docs name
    • claude.ai: zip the skill folder yourself, then Customize, Skills, the plus button, Create skill, Upload a skill (code execution must be on in Settings, Capabilities)
    • ChatGPT or any chatbot: open the skill's prompt.md, paste it into the chat, then paste your own text or link
    • Steps for each tool, with links to its official docs: how to install Agent Skills
  3. Ask for the job in plain words, for example: "Check my draft reply to this customer complaint. My policy is below.". The skill loads by itself.
