What to avoid

  • Do not list an amenity, a view or a distance you have not checked.
  • Do not hide stairs, noise or shared spaces. Guests who are told are rarely upset.
  • Do not use emoji, capitals for shouting, or words such as amazing and perfect.
  • Do not put a phone number, a link or another booking site in the text.
  • Do not write rules in the description. Put them in the house rules.

Questions people ask

How long should a listing description be?

Short enough to read on a phone. The Listing Rewriter keeps the description to 500 characters and the title to under 50.

What goes in the title?

The type of place and the main reason to book. Use plain words, sentence case and no emoji.

Should I mention flaws?

Yes, if a guest could be surprised by them: stairs, noise, shared spaces. It prevents complaints and bad reviews.

Can I copy another host's description?

Do not. Your place is different, and guests notice when the text does not match.

Where do I put the rules?

In the house rules section. See our house rules template page.
