A holiday let welcome letter is one page: a warm line, how to get in, the three things guests ask first (wifi, heating, parking), who to call, and a thank you. A welcome pack is a few useful things in the kitchen. Keep both short. Rules go on the house rules sheet.

What to avoid
- Statements about your legal duties, such as gas safety, fire safety or registration. Your own duties are on GOV.UK; do not write them into a friendly letter.
- Rules in the welcome letter. Put them on the house rules sheet.
- Health or allergy claims about the food in a pack. Say what it is and let guests read the label.
- Local places you have not been to. Use brackets and fill in your own knowledge.
- A long letter. One page is the limit.

Is a welcome pack worth it?
That is your call. We found no source that measures it, so we make no claim. Keep the cost to what you are happy to spend on every stay.
What is the difference between a welcome letter and a guest book?
The letter is one page on the table with the first answers. The guest book or house manual lives in the property and holds the full details.
What should I put in a holiday home welcome book?
How things work, where things are, local places and who to call. The house manual template page has examples.
Do I put the house rules in the welcome letter?
No. Put them on a separate rules sheet and keep the letter warm.
Questions people ask
What do I do with the [BRACKETS]?
Replace each one with a real fact. If you cannot, delete the line. Never leave a bracket in what you send.
What should a holiday let welcome letter say?
A warm line, how to get in, wifi, heating, parking, who to call and a thank you. Anything longer belongs in the house manual or guest book.
What goes in a welcome pack?
A few useful things. Under £5: milk, tea bags and a map. £5 to £10: add biscuits or a local treat. Over £10: add a bottle or a small gift from a local maker. The spend is your decision.
What is a holiday let welcome book?
The fuller guide that lives in the property: how things work, where things are and what is nearby. The house manual page covers it. The letter on the table is the short version.
Should a welcome letter be handwritten?
Either works. Handwriting feels personal, but it costs time at every change-over. A printed letter with a handwritten first line is a middle way.
What should I leave out of a welcome letter?
Rules, warnings and legal wording. They go on the house rules sheet.
